I am an artist and art instructor working near the west suburbs of Chicago.
The content of my art across any media comes out of an innate curiosity about the natural world. There is a song, a story echoing through the fabric of the material world. It was present even as the first stitch found its place. Sometimes I hear it, not with my ears but in a deeper place, beyond bone and marrow. My work focuses on this "fabric", on textures, transparency and scale shifts that are somehow resonant with the ever present melody. Perhaps these are passages or moments where the fabric is thin, almost penetrable. As I focus on these materials, tracing their surfaces and structures with my eyes and fingers, it’s as if I stand at a threshold; a beautiful and terrifying song surges against the other side.
